We were leaving Homer, Alaska on the morning of this year's 9/11. We'd been on vacation for a week at that point and had kind of lost track of the days, you know? We drove by a fire station in Kenai and saw not only their flag at half-mast, but also hundreds of little flags stuck in the lawn around the station building. It was incredibly moving, and it dawned on both of us at the same time that it was Sept. 11th. It was a powerful moment.

I think that is a picture I haven't seen before. It just breaks your heart to think of that horrific day.

It is a good foto, I havent seen it from that vew befor. Wat a scary day. It duzzent seem that long ago.
